With a title like “Green” the collection by Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010 had to be one of soulful beauty with its marked eco-friendly touches.
Putting ethical fashion in the forefront, the duo balanced style with a cause. The fabric line up was very organic with cotton, poplin, khadi, wild and handloom silk making an impact for shifts, trousers, jackets and knee length dresses.

Embroidery was used in an innovative manner by the designers as the camouflage motifs of bamboo and frangipani leaves, Morse code and X-ray prints gave the right organic touches. Nature’s beauty of minerals was envisaged as metal mesh fabrics by the designers and the prints reflected floral themes to further promote the environmental look.
Colours ranged from red to rust, cream, beige, black, and moss green, with lots of bleached and unbleached denim.

The stunners in the men’s wear were the sharply cut one-button men’s Mao jackets, leather jacket with front zip, hooded mesh sailor shirt, blue denim trousers with knee darts, and the extended waistband trousers in red synthetic duchesse.

Women’s wear was glamorous and intricately constructed with interesting detailing. The white cotton rouched buttoned shirt, the silk chiffon textured jacket, the organic cut out apron top and paneled shorts, the crème leather box bolero, the silk faille pleated dress with mesh neckline, the leather macramé neck plastron, and the black mesh sequined skirt, cocktail dress with beaded shoulders and the stunning black chiffon plisse evening gown.

The fall and finish of the garments was impeccable and the collection with marked international sensibilities will be a great addition in wardrobes around the globe. Lecoanet Hemant once again proved that fashion can make a thoughtful statement and push the Green revolution further with their beautifully crafted collection for the coming months.
